Head of HR (Field Based) – Permanent
Sites predominantly South Peterborough/ Cambridgeshire and Head Office in West Midlands (suggested base location somewhere in between – MK, NN, PE, CB)
£65,000 – £80,000 + Car + Bonus
Distinct Recruitment is delighted to be working exclusively with a market leading service provider on the recruitment of a Head of HR vacancy. We are recruiting the role on a permanent basis and can offer a generous package, including a salary up to £80,000, car or allowance and bonus.
THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Working as part of an established division within the business, there are existing processes and procedures, however this role will join a more recently introduced subdivision (business unit). This means that there will be opportunities to shape and shift the direction of the HR function where appropriate whilst inheriting an existing functional HR service. The postholder will have the benefit of working with group centres of excellence and shared services, allowing for a genuine focus on strategic, value add HR activity.
Our client thinks this role would ideally suit someone with a background of mixed operational and strategic experience that is looking to progress into a more strategically focused role. Reporting into the HR Director, the postholder will own the HR strategy for the business unit while having accountability for the operational HR delivery and line management responsibility of 2 HR Business Partners.
Partnering with the BU Director and Managing Director, the role will require a strategic and commercial head to provide thoughtful HR leadership, which will enable the business to fulfil its vision and succeed in delivering operational success. There will be some low hanging fruit in this role as well as some longer term targets but the type of activity the postholder will focus on will be around employee engagement, staff turnover, organisational design and talent development. The Head of HR will influence business decisions through use of metrics and commercial rationale, as well as being the face of HR in client facing or union interactions.
What our client is looking for:
So, experience in an outsourced service environment (think facilities, distribution, engineering – as opposed to professional services) is pretty high on their list of things to have, particularly if you’ve worked within a unionised environment or with government clients before. You’ll have had strategic experience as a Head of or Business Partner, preferably in a large business, and be comfortable with travelling around as required – the role will likely be travel intensive in the first few months of the role, so you’ll probably be operating in a similar multi-sited environment at the moment.
