Head of Supply Chain Planning
£60,000 - £70,000
Castle Donington - Permanent

An East Midlands based FMCG business are looking to appoint a Head of Planning to take the lead on materials and production planning.
Their supply chain team has been structured to create a centralised ‘centre of excellence’.
You’ll be taking the strategic lead for the planning pillar of supply chain, creating best-in-class planning processes for manufacturing operations.
This isn’t a hands-on short-term planning role. Each manufacturing site has their own supply chain team who look after 0-9 week planning horizons; you’ll be setting the strategy and parameters they operate against.
There are 2 clear areas that you’ll be able to have quick impact on:
- Customer availability (currently operating below industry standard across some product streams).
- Distribution costs (although not directly accountable for warehouse / distribution operations, you’ll be reducing costs through creating a more efficient plan and avoiding unnecessary product movement between distribution sites.
Beyond this, you’ll be involved with coaching / developing at site level on what good planning looks like, and will be developing mid to long term materials and production planning strategy to support business growth goals.
What the role lacks in end-to-end supply chain focus, it makes up for in complexity.
With a product portfolio covering ambient, chilled, and frozen, diverse sales channels including co-manufacturing, and a portfolio of c. 2000 SKUs, it’s not a straight forward planning role, and needs a real strategic focus.
This is a ‘top 40’ role and forms part of the senior leadership team running the business, so you’ll be firmly on the radar to be nurtured for progression to Supply Chain Director level in the future.
If you have a background in FMCG supply chain planning (with a focus on multi-site production planning), we’d love to hear from you.
